The song was released in 2015, when she turned 19. It quickly became a hit, and both critics and fans praised it. It was ranked in the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song among the 2015's most memorable Songs. In the same year, she released her first album Know It All, the track Scars to Your Beautiful ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200. It was also one of the five original songs. In her Rap-Up interview the listeners discussed Cara's struggle to find self-love as well as her doubts. Cara is known for including messages on mental health, kindness and love of self in her songs. Everything stems from her personal experience as she struggled with mental health issues and insomnia. Interview with Reuters she described her album as "half tumultuous" as well as "half complete". She found that therapy has helped her develop and encourages people to try it too. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. Her birth date was July 11, 1996, to parents of Italian descent. The guitar was gifted to her from her parents at the time she turned 10 which ignited the passion for music. She began covering the songs she loved at 13 to prove to that world that she could sing and had the confidence required to become the next singer. A cover of one of her songs, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and compose her own music.
